North Americare Park is known as one of the finest ball-parks in semi-professional baseball. It opened on April 14, 1988 and was the home of a sold out game to a crowd of roughly 19,500 people. North Americare Park is home to the Buffalo Bisons. The park’s has facilities including batting cages, a club house, party deck, hall of fame, and press box for the members of the media to sit and watch the game. Pettibones Grille is also a part of the North Americare Park with a pleasant place to dine and watch the game.
Ralph Wilson Stadium is home to the Buffalo Bills and one of the premier stadiums in the NFL. Beautiful HSBC Arena is located on Buffalo’s water front and is the home of the Buffalo Sabres hockey team and the Buffalo Bandits lacrosse teams.
Delaware Park is the centerpiece of the Buffalo parks and contains many of Buffalo’s cultural institutions. It is known simply as “The Park” and encompasses 350 acres. Letchworth State Park is approximately 45 miles from Buffalo and boasts some of the most amazing natural beauty in Western New York. Niagara Falls is only 20 minutes from Buffalo and is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world! Niagara Falls lies on the border between Canada and the United States. There are three separate waterfalls within Niagara Falls including Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the smallest of the three, Bridal Veil Falls. Niagara Falls has a wide variety of attractions on both the New York and Ontario, Canada sides. Features include the Daredevil Museum, Aerospace Museum, Goat Island, and Cave of the Winds on the New York Side of the Falls. On the Ontario side there are attractions including Queen Victoria Park, Oaks Garden Theatre, and the Skylon Tower. Two attractions of Niagara Falls that are on both the New York and Ontario sides are Rainbow Bridge and Maid of the Mist boat tours. On the west side of Buffalo is Peace Bridge that crosses the Niagara River and Lake Erie into Canada.

Buffalo has also been called The Nickel City due to the appearance of a buffalo on the back of the American nickel.
The Erie Canal links Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica, and Albany with New York City. The Erie Canal runs from the Hudson River to Lake Erie. The Erie Canal also connects the Great Lakes with the Atlantic Ocean. Lake Erie is at the beginning of the Niagara River that flows northward over Niagara Falls and into Lake Ontario.
One of the famous residents of Buffalo was William Fargo. Fargo was the founder of the Wells Fargo Express Company that was top in the transportation department in the 19th century American West. William Fargo served as Mayor of Buffalo from 1862 to 1866.
In 1964, Terressa Bellisimo made a spur-of-the-moment snack in her family’s bar and restaurant, the Anchor Bar. Terressa experimented with some chicken she had left over. She deep-fried it and added some hot sauce. The new treat was hot and crispy and received great remarks. Later on, other restaurants throughout Buffalo City, and then the world, began to serve the new treat called “Buffalo Wings”.
President William McKinley was shot while attending the PanAmerican Exposition in Buffalo resulting in Theodore Roosevelt being sworn in as the 26th president of the United States.
Millard Fillmore (13th President of the U.S.) died March 8, 1874 and is buried in Buffalo at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
